Brunon Bartkiewicz has been connected with ING Bank Śląski and ING since the early 90s. In 1994 he was appointed the first Vice-President, acting CEO. Next year, he was appointed the CEO of Bank Śląski. In 2000, for the subsequent four years, he held a function of the General Manager and a member of the Management Board in ING Direct NV. In 2004 he was appointed CEO of Bank Śląski. In 2010 he became the Member of the General Management Team in ING Direct, where he was accountable for, inter alia, operations in Spain, Italy, France, GB and Australia. Since 2012 he has been supervising the operations of ING in France, Italy, Poland, Spain, Romania and Turkey. Since mid - 2014 he has held the function of a Chief Innovation Officer in the ING Group.
Brunon Bartkiewicz graduated from the Department of Foreign Trade of the Central School of Planning and Statistics (SGH), where in the 80s he was employed as an academic researcher. He participated in trainings in management and banking, inter alia, CEDEP - Insead France and the Executive Program at the Graduate School of Business of the Stanford University.

The former CEO of the National Bank of Poland, former Prime Minister

Professor Marek Belka was born on 9 January 1952 in Lodz.
Having graduated from the Faculty of Economy of the University of Lodz in 1972 he was employed by the same University in the Department of Economy. In 1978 obtained a scientific title of doctor, and in 1986 - habilitation. Since 1986 associated with the Institute of Economic Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In years 1978–1979 and 1985–1986 he was delegated to an academic training in the University of Columbia and the University of Chicago, while in 1990 to the London School of Economics. In 1994 he was awarded with the academic title of a professor of economics.
Since 1990s he has held many important public functions, both in Poland and abroad. In 1990 he was appointed an advisor and consultant for the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Poland and then, the Ministry of Ownership Transformation and Central Planning Office. In 1996 he was appointed a consultant in the World Bank. In years 1994–1996 he held a function of a Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Social and Economic Strategy by the Ministry Council and then an economic adviser of the President of the Republic of Poland.
He held a function of a Deputy Prime Minister and a Minister of Finances twice: in 1997, in the government formed by Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz, and in years 2001-2002, in the government formed by Leszek Miller. In years 2004 - 2005 the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland.
Since 2006 Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), and since November 2008 Director of the European Department of the International Monetary Fund. Before, he also held a function of the head of Coalition Council for International Coordination in Iraq (2003), and then, a Director of Economic Policy in the interim coalition administration in Iraq, where he was responsible for, inter alia, currency reforms, the foundation of a new banking system and the supervision of economy (2003-2004).
He published over 100 academic papers chiefly devoted to the theory of money and anti-inflationary policy in the developing countries. His specialisation is applied economics and modern economic ideas. He is also a member of the Committee for Economic Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
On 10 June 2010 he was nominated by the Seym of the Republic of Poland a President of the National Bank of Poland. He held the function since 11 June 2010, after having been approved by the Seym of the Republic of Poland.
In January 2011 he was elected for a three-year cadence (and then prolonged for another three-year term in 2014) to the Steering Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB). From November 2011 to October 2015 he also held a function of the Chairman of the Development Committee of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
Since June 2012 a Chariman of the Steering Committee of the Vienna Initiative 2.0, and since May 2013 - a member of the Central Bank Governance Group operating within the Bank for International Settlements in Basel (BIS).

Robert Biedroń - a graduate of the Faculty of Political and Social Science at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. He also graduated from the Warsaw School for Political and Social Leaders and the School of Human Rights by the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights. For many years he has cooperated as a consultant of several human rights organisations both in Poland and abroad. He is an initiator, co-founder and long-standing President of the Polish Campaign Against Homophobia. Since 2009 a President of the Subcarpathian Institute involved in the civil society development. On 9 October 2011 Biedroń was elected to the Sejm as a candidate of the Palikot Movement for the Gdynia and Slupsk Region receiving almost 17 K votes. A former member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and a chief rapporteur for LGBT issues. In years 2008-2016 he was a member of the Human Rights Advisory Council by the Open Society Foundation. Since 2016, a Vice-President of the Commission for Justice and Human Rights and a member of Foreign Affairs Committee. Currently, the Mayor of Słupsk. Since 2015 a member of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the European Council.

Małgorzata Bonikowska - holder of PhD title in Humanities. Małgorzata specialises in international relations (with special focus on the European Union) and communication in public institutions. She graduated from the Warsaw University (Italian Studies), the Paris-Sorbonne University (History and Political Science) and PWST – the National Academy of Theatre Arts (History of Culture). She also completed two post-graduate PhD programmes, of which one in Poland (Polish Academy of Sciences) and abroad. Małgorzata attended specialist studies at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), UCLA, as beneficiary of the Fulbright program. In the years 1995–1998, Małgorzata Bonikowska worked for the Polish public television channel TVP as editor and since 1998 she was head of the European Information Centre at the Office of the Information Committee of the EU. She developed and implemented a governmental programme for informing the public about Poland’s accession to the EU and created a network of Regional European Information Centres. In 2001–2008, Małgorzata was an expert in the European Committee and Head of the Information and Communication Programme of the European Commission in Poland and later in Bulgaria. Since 1997, she has pursued a career in teaching and research as an academic teacher and advisor to governmental institutions. She has published over 80 pieces and a number of books. Małgorzata Bonikowska has served as tutor for over 100 BA, MA and PhD theses.

Ian Brzezinski is a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security and serves on the Council’s Strategic Advisors Group. He brings to the Council over two decades of experience in U.S. national security matters having served in senior policy positions in the Department of Defense and the U.S. Congress.
Mr. Brzezinski served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Europe and NATO Policy (2001–5). His office formulated, coordinated and executed bilateral and regional engagement strategies and defense guidance with the Joint Staff, Unified Combatant Commands and Department of Defense elements. His lead responsibilities included NATO expansion, Alliance force planning and transformation and NATO operations in the Balkans, the Mediterranean, Afghanistan and Iraq. Key highlights of his tenure include the expansion of NATO membership in 2004, the consolidation and reconfiguration of the Alliance’s command structure, the standing up of the NATO Response Force and the coordination of European military contributions to U.S. and NATO- led operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans.
Mr. Brzezinski served for seven years on Capitol Hill, first as a Legislative Assistant for National Security Affairs to the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Bill Roth, (1995–2000) and then as a Senior Professional Staff Member on the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations (2000–1). In these capacities, he drafted and implemented legislative initiatives and strategies concerning U.S. interests in Europe, Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia. As the staff coordinator of the Senate NATO Observer Group, he facilitated coordination and communication between the U.S. Senate and the executive branch on NATO enlargement, NATO operations in the Balkans and Alliance force modernization among other issues.
Mr. Brzezinski served as a volunteer in Ukraine (1993-94) where he advised the Ukrainian National Security Council, Foreign Ministry, Defense Ministry and Parliament. He served as a member of the Policy Planning Staff in the Department of Defense (1991–93), a Consultant to the Center for Naval Analysis (1991–92) and a Support Analyst/Information Assistant at the National Security Council (1986–7).
For his public service, Ian Brzezinski has been awarded the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service; the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gedimas; the Latvian Ministry of Defense Award; the Romanian Medal for National Service, Order of Commander; and, the Order of Merit, Republic of Poland, Officer Class.
Mr. Brzezinski worked for five years a Principal at Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc. providing policy and technical support to U.S. combatant commands and foreign clients. Today, he leads the Brzezinski Group, which provides strategic insight and advice to commercial clients.

Since 1998 working for Nationale-Nederlanden Powszechne Towarzystwo Emerytalne S.A., where he was, at first, the senior specialist for investments, Vice-Director of the Investment Department, and then the Director (accountable for portfolio debt management). In February 2004 he was appointed member of the Management Board and on 1 October 2006 Vice-President of the Management Board of Nationale-Nederlanden PTE S.A.
In his professional career he has proved to be very successful. He largely contributed to the increase of the managed pension fund and its leadership position among the financial institutions in Poland as for the number of customers and the assets in portfolio. A graduate of the Warsaw Technical University (Department of Electronics and IT), a student of Summer Actuarial School of Warsaw University (Department of Economic Science), and a stockbroker (licence no. 432). A holder of the CFA title.

Maria Demertzis is a research fellow at Bruegel, a think-tank in Brussels. She is also currently an associate professor (visiting) of economics at the University of Amsterdam.

From 2000 – 2012, Maria was a senior economist in the economic policy and research division for De Nederlandsche Bank in the Netherlands. In 2012, she was seconded as national expert at the European Commission, DG, Economic and Finance. Maria has also spent most of her career instructing in economics and statistics. She has held various academic positions at the Harvard Kennedy School in Boston, MA and the University of Strathclyde, UK.

Maria has over 40 publications in international refereed journals and books and makes presentations at regular seminar series of universities and central banks in Europe and North America as well as the IMF and the European Commission

Maria earned a BSc in economics from the University of Athens, an MSc in economics from the University of Glasgow, and a PhD in economics from the University of Strathclyde. Maria speaks Greek (mother tongue), English, French, and Dutch.

Cees Donkers is the leading urban designer of Eindhoven, Netherlands, founder of the Architectural Centre of Eindhoven. Cees graduated from Technical University Eindhoven, faculty of Architecture and urban design. He was coordinator for the project ‘City as a laboratory” in Eindhoven. He took part in the number of large-scale projects, such as Masterplan former Philips sites (Witte Dame), Masterplan Smalle Haven (Jo Coenen), Piazza and 18 September. In 1991 he got the National Prize from minister for maintenance. In 2008-2010 in close partnership with the number of institutes he coordinated the researching programme City as a Laboratory. The Chairman of the United Right Parliamentary Club in the Sejm of the 7th cadence. During his Parliamentary work he held the functions of the Chairman of the Convention on Biomedicine Group, the Chairman of Extraordinary Commission for MP's draft acts on the amendment of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland and a Member of the National Security Council.
He cooperates with the Santa Clause Foundation, supporting the foundation of single mothers and hospices and with the SIEMACHA Association. He seats in the Patronage Council of the Krakow Hospice for children of Jozef Tischner. He lives in Krakow with his wife, three children and a grandson. In 1982 he graduated from law studies at the Department of Law and Administration of the Warsaw University.
From October 1982 to January 1991 he was employed in the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.
From February 1991 to December 2006 he was employed in the headquarters of the National Bank of Poland. Since August 1992 an advisor of the CEO in the General Inspectorate of Banking Supervision. In December 1993 he was appointed Vice-Director of the General Inspectorate of Banking Supervision. He was accountable for the settlement of problems faced by banks remaining in the most difficult position. On 6 February 1998 he was appointed Director of Legal Department of NBP by the President of the National Bank of Poland. From February 1998 to December 2006 he was a member of the Management Board of the National Bank of Poland.
In years 2006 - 2014 a Vice-Mayor of the Capital City of Warsaw.
On 12 October 2011 he was appointed Chairman of the Comission of Financial Supervision.

Mirosław Janik joined Wincor Nixdorf (name used by the company at that time) in April 2000 as CFO. In March 2003, he became Vice-President of the Management Board and in October 2009 he was promoted to the position of President of the Management Board of Wincor Nixdorf Poland. Since the merger between Diebold and Wincor Nixdorf in August 2016, he has been President of the Management Board of the merged company Diebold Nixdorf in Poland and Ukraine. He has a long-standing experience in implementing management systems in the corporate environment. In his role as President of the company, he is responsible for the company’s development in Poland and Ukraine by initiating a strategy combining latest technologies and the entire Diebold Nixdorf Group’s expertise. Since 2006, Mirosław Janik has been also responsible for the Russian market (initially in the role of CFO and in 2013-2014 also as president of the Management Board of Wincor Nixdorf Russia).
Mirosław graduated from the faculty of Business Management and Marketing with a focus on Accounting and Marketing at the Krakow University of Economics. In 1999, he also completed a postgraduate Capital Investments course at the Warsaw School of Economics. In 2003, he received the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) diploma and in 2005 he acquired the MBA title at the Gdańsk Foundation for Management Development liaising with the Rotterdam School of Management and the University of Gdańsk. In 2015, he also completed the General Management Programme at the Harvard Business School.

Jacek Jaśkowiak was born on 10 March 1964 in Poznań. He is a devoted community worker, sports activist, and former businessman. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, where he also earned his postgraduate studies degree in accountancy, finance and taxation. He was awarded a scholarship from GFPS (Association for Student Exchange in Central and Eastern Europe) to the University of Bielefeld in Germany.

He gained his professional experience in commercial companies in the 1990s. His past employment includes e.g. working for Dr. Jan Kulczyk at Kulczyk Tradex. From 1997 to 2014, he ran his own company, providing accountancy and advisory services to foreign entrepreneurs. Together with business investors, he contributed to creating employment for thousands of people in Poland.

Since 2008, he has been expressing his views on public matters in various newspapers, including Gazeta Wyborcza and Głos Wielkopolski. Owing to his public activity, in 2010, he was appointed as a candidate for Mayor of Poznań, representing the urban movement My-Poznaniacy. Since 2013, he has been a member of the Civic Platform Party of Poland and in 2014, he ran for the office of the Mayor of Poznań on its behalf. In the second round, he obtained 86,164 votes (59.09% of the ballot) and replaced the incumbent Mayor of the City of Poznań, Ryszard Grobelny, who had held the office for the previous 16 years.

Jacek Krupa (Born on 11 April 1955 in Skawina) - a Polish politician, economist, official of local government authorities and a Member of Parliament of the 5th and 6th cadence.
He graduated from the Department of Marketing and Management of the University of Economics in Krakow. In 1981 a member of Solidarity Movement, a leader of a plant commission in Aluminium Steelworks in Skawina.
From 1990 to 1998 he held the function of the Mayor of the Town and Commune of Skawina, and then, for four years he worked as a Vice-Starost of Krakow Poviat. In years 2002 and 2005 he held the position of Krakow Starost.
In 2005 he was elected a Member of Parliament for the 5th cadence from the Krakow district. In the Parliamentary Elections in 2007, he was re-elected as a Member of Parliament.
He participated in the work of the Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry Committee and in the 6th cadence he was a Member of the Infrastructure Commission and Vice-President of the Administration and Internal Affairs Committee. Since November 2011 he has held a function of a Vice-President of the Technological Park in Krakow (a company managing the Special Economic Zone of the Technological Park in Krakow).
In the Management Board of the Malopolskie Province since May 2012. On 9 November 2015 he was appointed a Marshal of the Malopolskie Province.

Professor Jacek Purchla, PhD – a Director of the International Culture Centre.
He was born in Krakow in 1954. He graduated from the faculties of economy and history of arts. A professor of humanistic studies; a member of the Polish Academy of Learning; he is the Head of the Department of Economic and Social History and the UNESCO Chair in Cultural Heritage and Urban Studies of the University of Economics in Krakow, and the Department of European Heritage in the Institute of European Studies of the Jagiellonian University.
He is interested in research on the urban development, social history and the history of arts in the 19th and 20th centuries as well as the theory and protection of cultural heritage. An author of over four hundred scholarly works, including numerous books. In 1990 - 1991 a Vice-Mayor of Krakow. A founder and Director of the International Cultural Centre in Krakow (since 1991). A member of many organisations and associations, including the Council of Europa Nostra in Hague, Comité international d’histoire de l’art (CIHA), the Committee of Arts Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, an expert of the European Commission within the project of the European Heritage Label, Advisory Committee for the Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialog of Cultures of Anna Lindh. Since 2000 a Chairman of the Council for the Historical Monuments Protection by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Since 15 July 2015, a Chairman of the Polish Committee for UNESCO (earlier, since 2012, a Vice-Chairman).

As a consultant he works with the Ministry of Finance of Afghanistan, the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants, the PanAfrican Federation of Accountants; and is involved in reform projects supported by the World Bank, and the African Development Bank.
As a volunteer, Szymon serves as a soccer referee and instructor for the American Youth Soccer Organization in Brooklyn where he moved with the family 11 years ago. Zuzanna Skalska has been working for more than 18 years as a trend analyst and strategist in the field of industrial design (creative industry). At the end of the 1990s, she began her career as a Sensorial Trend Analyst at Philips Design and from 2001 she worked for 13 years as a Senior Consultant Trend Research at design agency VanBerlo in Eindhoven. In 2007, Skalska founded the 360Inspiration label and in 2014 she started her independent, trans-disciplinary advisory platform for business, industry, government and education at this label. Skalska is an author of the "360º Trend Reports" that won a Red Dot Communication Award in 2009.
Skalska was a member of the Board of Directors of the Dutch Design Week Eindhoven (DDW) for a period of 7 years. As from 2010, she is now a member of the Advisory Board. Since 2006, Skalska has been a lecturer at the Department of Industrial Design of the TU/e Technical University Eindhoven. Hanna Zdanowska was born in Łódź and graduated from General Secondary School No. 26. She completed Environmental Engineering studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the Łódź Technical University. Following graduation, she started her career by building residential estates Retkinia and Radogoszcz in Łódź and managing a clothing company. For six years, she was Head of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Łódź.
In 2006, Hanna Zdanowska was elected a member of the City Council and then Deputy Mayor of Łódź. She was in charge of education, sport and EU funds.

Marcin Olender is a Public Policy and Government Relations Manager for CEE at Google. A lawyer by training, obsessed with all things digital. Before joining Google he was a civil servant in several public institutions, including the Ministry of Digital Affairs of Poland, where he worked on a number of Internet-related issues, spanning from personal data protection and security to video on demand services. His responsibilities are currently focused around copyright reform and audiovisual policies in the EU and publisher relations.

The paper was established in autumn 2014 after the financial group Penta bought the "Sme" daily and most of the editorial staff left in protest to hostile takeover. Previously he was CEO of Piano, world's biggest provider of paywall technology for newspaper, and editor-in-chief at sme.sk.
