Tadeusz Gadacz, prof. zw. dr hab. pracownik naukowy Wydziału Humanistycznego AGH w Krakowie. ur. w 1955 roku w Krakowie. Uczeń i wieloletni współpracownik ks. profesora Józefa Tischnera. 1991-1995 dziekan Wydziału Filozofii Papieskiej Akademii Teologicznej w Krakowie, 1996-1999 kierownik Katedry Filozofii Religii na Wydziale Filozoficznym Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego, 2004-2008 wicedyrektor Instytutu Filozofii i Socjologii PAN, 2009-2017 dyrektor Instytutu Filozofii i Socjologii Uniwersytetu Pedagogicznego w Krakowie. Obecnie profesor Wydziału Humanistycznego AGH w Krakowie.
Stypendysta Katolickiego Uniwersytetu w Waszyngtonie, Hebrew University w Jerozolimie, Uniwersytetu Louvain La Neuve w Belgii, Instytutu Nauk o Człowieku w Wiedniu.
W latach 2003-2007 przewodniczący Komitetu Nauk Filozoficznych PAN. Obecnie jest Prezesem Polskiego Towarzystwa Etycznego, Przewodniczącym Zarządu Hospicjum Dziecięcego im. ks. prof. Józefa Tischnera.
Zajmuje się historią filozofii XX wieku, filozofią człowieka, filozofią religii, kondycją myślenia, analizą przemian kultury i cywilizacji, mentoringiem. Jest autorem ponad 200 publikacji naukowych polskich i zagranicznych. Ostatnio wydał Rozumowe poznanie Boga (2000), Filozofia człowieka jako filozofia losu (2000), O umiejętności życia (2002, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2016), Bóg w filozofii XX wieku (2007), O ulotności życia (2008, 2009, 2016), Historia filozofii XX wieku. Nurty, t. 1: Filozofia życia, Filozofia ducha, Pragmatyzm (2009), t. 2: Neokantyzm, Filozofia dialogu, Filozofia egzystencji (2009). Przełożył na język polski Gwiazdę zbawienia Franza Rosenzweiga.
W 2002 roku otrzymał nagrodę prezydenta Warszawy Lecha Kaczyńskiego dla najlepszego nauczyciela akademickiego Mazowsza. W 2003 roku nagrodę „Nowych Książek” za redakcję naukową (wraz z B. Milerskim) dziesięciotomowego dzieła Religia. Encyklopedia PWN. W 2008 roku został wybrany przez studentów najlepszym wykładowcą w historii Collegium Civitas.
Publikuje w prasie i czasopismach. Wygłosił wiele prestiżowych wykładów publicznych, m.in. na zamknięcie Kongresu Kultury Polskiej w Krakowie, i w Parlamencie na Konferencji Bezpieczeństwa NATO podczas polskiej prezydencji w Unii Europejskiej, w Teatrze Narodowym w Warszawie podczas Ogólnopolskiego Zjazdu Lekarzy Rodzinnych.
Titular Professor, D.Sc., Ph.D. Research scientist at the Faculty of Humanities of the AGH University of Science and Technology. Student and long time associate of Professor Józef Tischner, an of Theology in Kraków; 1996 – 1999 he was a head of the Chair of Philosophy of Religion at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw; 2004 – 2008 – he worked as vice – director of the eminent priest and philosopher. Between 1991 – 1995 Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Pontifical Academy Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Pedagogical University of Cracow. Currently he is a Professor at the Faculty of Humanities of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.
He was a stipendist of the Catholic University in Washington, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Louvain La Neuve University in Belgium and Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna.
Between 2003-2007 he chaired the Philosophy of Science Committee of the Polish Academy of Science. Currently he is the President of the Polish Ethical Society and Chairman of the Board of the Priest Józef Tischner Children’s Hospice in Kraków.
His field of research include the history of philosophy of the 20th century, philosophy of human nature, philosophy of religion, the condition of thought, analysis of the cultural and civilisation changes and mentoring. He is the author of over 200 scientific papers, published both domestically and internationally. His last works include: “Rational cognition of God” [Rozumowe poznanie Boga] (2000), “Philosophy of a human being as the philosophy of destiny” [Filozofia człowieka jako filozofia losu] (2000), “On the skill of living” [O umiejętności życia] (2002, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2016), “God in the philosophy of the 20th century” [Bóg w filozofii XX wieku] (2007), “On the elusiveness of life” [O ulotności życia] (2008, 2009, 2016), “History of philosophy of the 20th century. Currents” [Historia filozofii XX wieku. Nurty], t. 1: “Philosophy of life, Philosophy of spirit, Pragmatism” [Filozofia życia, Filozofia ducha, Pragmatyzm] (2009), t. 2: “Neo – Kantianism, Philosophy of dialogue, Philosophy of existence” [Neokantyzm, Filozofia dialogu, Filozofia egzystencji] (2009).
He translated into Polish language the “Star of redemption” the major work of Franz Rosenzweig. In 2002 he was awarded the prize of the President of Warsaw, Professor Lech Kaczynski, for being the best academic tutor of the Mazowsze Region. In 2003 he received the prize awarded by „Nowe Książki” for editing (in cooperation with B. Milerski) the ten volume PWN Encyclopaedia – “Religion” [Religia]. In 2008 he was elected by the students the best academic tutor in the history of the Collegium Civitas. His publications are printed in newspapers and magazines. He gave numerous prestigious lectures, e.g. at the closing of the Polish Culture Congress in Kraków and in the Parliament, during the NATO Safety Summit during the Polish Presidency in the EU, in the National Theatre in Warsaw, during the Conference of Family Physicians in Poland.
