Jarosław Gowin urodził się 4 grudnia 1961 r. w Krakowie. W latach 2011 – 2013 minister sprawiedliwości, odpowiedzialny za ustawę deregulacyjną. W latach osiemdziesiątych był członkiem Niezależnego Zrzeszenia Studentów oraz „Solidarności”. Stypendysta Uniwersytetu Cambridge.
W 2003 utworzył Wyższą Szkołę Europejską im. ks. Józefa Tischnera w Krakowie, której był rektorem do roku 2013. Senator VI kadencji. Członek Komisji Nauki i Edukacji oraz Komisji Samorządu Terytorialnego i Administracji Publicznej.
Od 2007 r. poseł na Sejm RP VI i VII kadencji. Przewodniczący Klubu Parlamentarnego Zjednoczona Prawica w sejmie VII kadencji. Podczas swojej pracy parlamentarnej pełnił m.in. funkcje przewodniczącego Zespołu ds. Konwencji Bioetycznej, przewodniczącego nadzwyczajnej Komisji do rozpatrzenia poselskich projektów ustaw o zmianie Konstytucji RP oraz członka Rady Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego.
Współpracuje z Fundacją św. Mikołaja, działającą na rzecz tworzenia domów samotnych matek i hospicjów, a także ze stowarzyszeniem SIEMACHA. Zasiada w Radzie Patronackiej Krakowskiego Hospicjum dla dzieci imienia ks. Józefa Tischnera.
Wolne chwile spędza z rodziną w górach lub na czytaniu książek. Miłośnik muzyki barokowej.
He was born on 04 December 1961 in Krakow. In years 2011 – 2013 he was the Minister of Justice, accountable for the Deregulation Act. In the 80s he was a Member of the Independent Students’ Association and the „Solidarity” movement. A scholar of the University of Cambridge. In 2003 he launched the Tischner European University in Krakow; he was the Rector of the University by 2013. A senator of the 6th cadence. A Member of the Commission of Science and Education and the Local Government and State Administration Committee. Since 2007 a Member of Polish Sejm of the 6th and 7th cadences. The Chairman of the United Right Parliamentary Club in the Sejm of the 7th cadence. During his Parliamentary work he held the functions of the Chairman of the Convention on Biomedicine Group, the Chairman of Extraordinary Commission for MP’s draft acts on the amendment of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland and a Member of the National Security Council. He cooperates with the Santa Clause Foundation, supporting the foundation of single mothers and hospices and with the SIEMACHA Association. He seats in the Patronage Council of the Krakow Hospice for children of Jozef Tischner. He lives in Krakow with a wife, three children and a grandson. He spends his free time with family in the mountains or reading books. Baroque music lover.
